Projection is an immature ego defence mechanism in which an individual attributes their own unacceptable impulses or thoughts to someone else. For example, a cheating husband who accuses his wife of cheating.

Projection is considered an immature defense mechanism. Recall that ego defense mechanisms are thoughts and behaviors (vountary or involuntary) that resolve conflict surrounding undesireable feelings.

EXAMPLE
Person With Hostile Feelings Accusing Others Of Hostility Or Anger
Angry guy accusing other man of being angry

One example of projection is a person with a hostile nature seeing hostility in other people, rather than acknowledging it in themselves.
