Anticentromere antibodies are antibodies directed against centromeric proteins. They are present in various autoimmune disorders but are most commonly seen in CREST. They are sometimes also seen in diffuse scleroderma.

Anticentromere antibodies are found in 90% of patients with CREST syndrome, which is now known as limited or localized scleroderma. It is characterized by calcinosis, Raynaud phenomenon, esophageal dysmotility, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia.

Anticentromere antibodies are found in 15% of those with the diffuse form of scleroderma. Anti-Scl 70 antibodies (antibodies directed against DNA topoisomerase) are more commonly found in these patients.
