7 KEY FACTS
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Inhibits Reuptake of Serotonin
Selective Silver-tonic Reuptake tube with Inhibiting-chains

Vortioxetine inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and is known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). SSRIs are commonly used to treat depression by increasing the levels of serotonin within the brain. SSRIs inhibit serotonin transporter (also called Reuptake) within neurons. Vortioxetine has a high affinity to these serotonin transporters, and therefore increases serotonin in the central nervous system. Vortioxetine also acts as a 5-HT1A receptor agonist and a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist
