Inhibits Reuptake of Serotonin
Selective Silver-tonic Reuptake tube with Inhibiting-chains

Vortioxetine inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and is known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). SSRIs are commonly used to treat depression by increasing the levels of serotonin within the brain. SSRIs inhibit serotonin transporter (also called Reuptake) within neurons. Vortioxetine has a high affinity to these serotonin transporters, and therefore increases serotonin in the central nervous system. Vortioxetine also acts as a 5-HT1A receptor agonist and a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist

Major Depressive Disorder

Vortioxetine is used for treating major depressive disorder (MDD), which is commonly known as depression. The core signs and symptoms of MDD include a loss of interest or pleasure in nearly all activities of everyday living.

Nausea vomiting

Nausea can be described as experiencing discomfort in the stomach, usually followed by a desire to vomit. The symptoms of discomfort could include heaviness and tightness in the stomach. It could also be accompanied by a feeling of indigestion.

Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual dysfunction is a condition occurring when a patient suffers from a condition that hinders this individual from wanting or participating in sexual activity.

Anticholinergic Effects

The most common manifestations of anticholinergic effects include constipation, dry mouth, and urinary retention. Other symptoms include constipation, dilation of the pupils, blurred vision, a higher heart rate, and reduced sweating.
